Eurajoki is a municipality in Satakunta, Western Finland. Founded in 1869, its population as of 2012 was 5910.
LOCATION
Located on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia, in the
region of Satakunta, in the province of Western Finland. Nearest town is Rauma,
located south of Eurajoki.
HISTORY
Eurajoki is first mentioned in literal sources in
February 2th, 1344.
EURAJOKI II
Eurajoki is located in Western Finland. Here lives
almost 6 000 people. Eurajoki has founded in 1869s. Eurajoki neighbour
municipalities are Eura, Nakkila, Luvia and Rauma. It is between Pori and
Rauma.
The most popular sight in Eurajoki is the nuclear power
factory Olkiluoto. They are building a new nuclear power station and it will be
ready in 2015. There are already three nuclear power stations. Students visit
there couple of times per year.
Here is also a water tower which is 40 metres long.
It's an amazing experience to climb the stairs up and look around the whole
Eurajoki.
Vuojoki's mansion was built in 1626s. Carl Ludwig
Engel drew the ground plan in 1836s. Nowadays there's a restaurant where
tourists can have a meal. Vuojoki's mansion has tradition events like
Suviehtoo, horse plowing Finland's championship and concerts.
Eurajoki has seven schools and the biggest school is
Eurajoen yhteiskoulu and highschool.
Free-time activities are the library, icehall, bowling
hall and sports field.
Overall, Eurajoki is a good place to live because
everything is so close and it is quite calm and quiet.
LUVIA
Luvia is a little town nearby the sea and it’s part of
Satakunta. It has about 3300 inhabitants. When you are visiting Luvia, the must-do
things are swimming and fishing. You can also go to see beautiful sights such
as Laitakari, Kaljaasi Ihana, trenches and beautiful stone church. You can
relax in peace in this cosy little town which has a couple of grocery stores,
beaches, kindergartens, a school, a health center, a sports field, a flower
shop, hairdressers, two banks, an ice rink with gym, a riding school, a local
history museum etc. If you are interested in culture, you might want to visit
Tasala and see a musical or go to the summer theater.
EURAJOKI HIGH SCHOOL
This is
our school. High School is in the same building as the Eurajoki Junior High
School, The building has been recently renovated and the floors are very modern
as we have two rooms meant for information technology and advanced central
radio for spreading information. There are about 142 students in our High
School. Those students are taught by a bit over 20 teachers. Besides the
teachers there is also a school psychologist and a school nurse. Our high
school principal is Matti Kesti. To pass High School students have to complete
75 courses, 1 course usually equals to 38 lessons. The school year is divided
to 5 periods and in each period there are 4-8 courses that can be chosen by the
students. There are about 60 obligatory courses and 15 optional courses. The
advances of our school are a great curriculum, free books, food and it offers
free bus rides if the student lives more than 5 kilometers away. And the most
important thing is that studying is completely free of charge.
